Having hurt my shoulder badly a month before I was due to fly to Istanbul the chances of me racing were looking slim said the physiotherapist who doubted id be able to swim let alone compete well. However after constant rehab and trying to do everything to give myself a fighting chance but things weren't looking good. It was a week before we were due to fly and my coach Steve said the ball was in my court if I wanted to swim I was going to have to swim a time trail in training to see how fit I was...being on the bike straight for a week and now having to suit up and jump in the pool to race a 200m backstroke felt daunting!

The British university and college swimming championships is probably one of my favourite meets in my calendar. There's always a great team atmosphere, which is amazing as everyone gets behind one another with a lot of very fast swimming with the added bonus of a great night out to celebrate after. However with my shoulder injury I was unable to participate in it this year but i'l be ready for next year.
